Our MasterLab offers NIR services to the internal Nutreco organization, Trouw Nutrition and Skretting, and to external customers all over the world, enabling us to “bring the Lab to the sample”.  

The NIR team is responsible for organization, maintenance and technical developments related to NIR. NIR technology is used to support the Quality Control and Quality Assurance of feed production in our Trouw Nutrition plants worldwide, the analytical demands of the R&D department and to serve the customers of Trouw Nutrition.  

At this moment, the NIR team is responsible for 550 desktop NIR instruments, and another 850 handheld NIR instruments. We are looking for an NIR Application Specialist who will play a key role in the central organization of NIR application projects within Nutreco and its customers, from within MasterLab in Boxmeer, the Netherlands; the role also aims at supporting related technologies. 

  

About The Role: Spotting the ‘Near’- Misses 

Responsibilities:  

  • Securing the quality of the delivered NIR services by supporting our customers, helping in the development of new calibrations for several NIR projects and continuous validation of our data. 

  • Developing innovative new techniques and services related to NIR. 

  • Support development of our new global X-ray fluorescence (XRF) services. 

Skills and Expertise  

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences (analytical chemistry/spectroscopy). 

  • 5 years of work experience in development of calibrations and validation thereof with NIR software and equipment. 

  • Experience in at least two of the following: data analysis/ chemometrics, different spectroscopic techniques, analytical chemistry, feed analysis. 

  • Knowledge of Foss and Bruker instrumentation is an asset. 

  • Fluency in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus. 

Expectation from Role:  

  • You are the subject-matter expert for our global users when it comes to advice and guidance on how to make the most of our powerful NIR applications. 

  • You contribute to constant innovations related to spectroscopic techniques. 

  • You will enable our users to analyse raw materials and gather nutritional information both at the lab and on-site.
