Job Description

  • Opco/BU Supply & Demand Strategy
    • Provide input to the Supply Chain strategy and Opco/BU IBP strategy
    • Develops and ensure execution of the Supply & Demand strategy for the own Supply Chain department in order to improve supply excellence
    • Develop and ensure execution of the Plan policy for the own remit in line with the overall Supply Chain strategy
    • Contribute pro-actively to the strategic planning process (>15 months horizon)
    • Defines strategy for new businesses by analysing the latest trends and developments in the market and translating this to the own department
    • Lead and drive the demand segmentation process.

  • Integrated Business Supply & Demand Planning
    • Aligned with Plant/Operations and third-party suppliers, co-drive the execution of the IBP process (operational and tactical horizon), organize all meetings according to the Nutreco standards, support and facilitate the Financial Forecasting Process
    • Participate, prepare, facilitate and lead assigned Supply meetings according to IBP standards
    • Prepare scenario decision documents for IBP process
    • Balance demand and supply in the most optimal way in terms of volume, revenues, costs, and margin and develop scenarios for decision making.
    • Provide procurement, supply points and logistics departments with production plans in line with service levels, inventory, production parameters, targets and guidelines
    • Provide the commercial organisation with approved plans to fulfil demand
    • Optimize and implement changes to the supply network of the Opco/BU, in line with targets and guidelines (focus on OTIF and EBIT improvement), while understanding the impact for supply points connected to the network. Manage supply planning resources (capacity, critical materials, human resources) strategy & development for the IBP

  • Demand Planning
  • Develops and ensure execution of the Demand Planning strategy to improve demand excellence.
  • Leads the Demand Planning cycles, collaborates actively internally (Sales & Marketing) and with Customers driving for high Forecast Accuracy and low Bias
  • Supervise and consolidate the Opco’s/BU’s unconstrained (or agreed upon constrained) demand plans from the demand planners into the Opco/BU IBP demand plan as input for the IBP Demand and Supply Network Plan
  • Supervise Opco’s/BU’s Account Review and Demand Review meeting(s)
  • Communicate/report to the demand planners and commercial teams’ decisions/constraints from the IBP cycle and drive the related actions to take place in the organisation
  • First point of contact for the commercial organization (Sales, Marketing, Species teams, Key Account team) for the operational and/or tactical planning horizon
  • Understand the impact of business dynamics (NPD/NPI, EOL, promotions, events, seasonality, tenders, contracts) in the demand plan
  • Understand, apply and maintain Opco’s/BU’s priority rule book (product & customer) based on input from Species, Key Account team and/or commercial teams (sales, marketing and formulation) and manage in case of e.g. constraints and matching of demand & supply

  • Supply Planning
    • Manage team responsible for preparing and optimizing the operational and tactical planning for the assigned supply network (internal and external capacity); by balancing demand, inventory and production and packaging capacity, identify constraints and opportunities as input for IBP and acquire agreement with the assigned supply points on the supply plan (tactical, operational as well as day to day (local) execution)
    • Responsible for production planning, (raw) materials planning and intra- supply planning.
    • Drive the execution of the S&OE process (operational), organize all meetings according to the Nutreco standards.
    • Responsible for ensuring that Planning Parameters within the ERP system are regularly reviewed and maintained by the team with clear ownership and accountability within the team.
    • Responsible for making day-to-day decisions, where planning conflicts occur (E.g insufficient capacity for multiple orders) and where relevant, escalating for resolution to the Regional Supply Chain Manager.
    • Provide the supply points with a realistic and attainable planning, in line with the identified guidelines and constraints.
    • Discuss yearly maintenance plans with the plants
    • Develop relationships of trust with both internal & external parties, e.g. suppliers
    • Communicate/report to the supply planners and commercial teams' decisions/constraints from the IBP cycle and drive the related actions to take place in the organisation
    • First point of contact for the commercial organization (Sales, Marketing, Species teams, Key Account team) for the operational and/or tactical planning horizon

  • Inventory & Working Capital Management
  • Define and implement inventory and replenishment targets and apply inventory segmentation effectively.
  • Manage the team that is responsible for the inventory processes and ensure that inventory covers the projected demand (correct DIO for RM and FG)
  • Manage and optimize working capital in line with the agreed targets according to the inventory management guidelines, replenish relevant warehouses (in line with targets), follow up on aging stock and obsoletes and acquire agreement with demand, procurement, and logistics (day-to-day contact and fixed meeting structure)

  • KPIs and Continuous Improvement & Management Information
  • Maintains the relevant KPI’s such as OTIF, capacity utilization and stock levels (working capital), including supplier and procurement (RMR and 3rd party manufacturing) performance evaluation methods
  • Observe and evaluate bottlenecks and identify opportunities and drives improvement actions in supply planning and supply consolidation related processes, planning systematics, procedures and/or systems, and ensure implementation of improvements after approval in the Opco/BU.
  • Be the owner of KPI dashboards, insights and decision documents regarding quantitative and qualitative developments by means of periodical (e.g. IBP, budget) and ad hoc reports and/or analyses, based on reporting guidelines to drive PDCA cycle in your area of expertise
  • Responsible for developing insightful, actionable and user friendly KPI dashboards and reports and share with relevant stakeholders
  • Participates in Community of Practice and drive local implementation of CoE initiatives
  • Monitor, analyze and challenge the quality of the Opco’s/BU’s order fulfillment
  • Coordinate any activities related to the constraining and allocation process for the Opco/BU and determine impact on customer level 
  • Continuously look for opportunities & improvements within daily work context and take ownership in implementing solutions

  • Capability building and people coaching
  • Provides leadership by reviewing performance and providing ongoing feedback on a formal & informal basis to supply and supply planners taking part in the cycles
  • Contributes to the development and performance of supply and supply planners through a culture of coaching and skills development
  • Provides training to the planning community on key topics within the planning & IBP work field
  • Supports the establishment of a culture of full chain collaboration
  • Leadership
    • Builds and leads an effective and impactful SP Team: recruits, coaches, develops, appraises, rewards, counsels and terminates in compliance with Nutreco HR Policies and Standards
    • Provides leadership (i.e. setting individual SMART objectives, reviewing performance and providing ongoing feedback on a formal & informal basis) so that all reports are aware of what they are required to achieve and how they are performing against their objectives.
    • Manages the development and performance of the team members through a culture of coaching, skills development and increased accountability.
    • Supports the establishment of a culture of leading and collaboration and thereby focussing on improving the supply chain processes and performance
    • Builds strong working relationships with key functions to drive improvements within the Opco, region or BU including Finance, Formulation, Procurement, Production and Commercial.
    • Establish and optimize team processes to balance dynamic business priorities. Embed mechanisms that allow oversight of active projects, resource allocation, tracking to completion and “telling the story”

  • Continuous Improvement & Projects
    • Identifies, benchmarks and implements Planning and IBP best practices. Initiates and implements both operational, tactical as strategical improvements through development of control systems within all teams
    • Drives the efficiency and effectiveness of Supply Planning, IBP and Supply Chain activities to ensure a responsive, robust response to customer supply.
    • Initiates root cause analysis and (sustainable) problem solving
    • Manages various identified improvement projects

  • Quality / HSE Compliance
  • Assures that all activities and operations are executed in line with HSE / Quality rules, regulations, procedures, instructions, guidelines, and promotes awareness thereof, including addressing anomalies to others

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • University degree in the field of supply chain, operations, economics, technical engineering or similar,
  • Native or equivalent level of Japanese language and Business level of English are required.
  • You have at least 5 years of work experience in a comparable or relevant position including Demand, Supply and planning (IBP) in the animal feed industry or any other industry such as FMCG or pharma
  • A valuable experience in Customer services, Scheduling, Logistic, Manufacturing or sales is a plus
  • Excellent knowledge and expertise in ERP tools in both in term of functionality and usage. Microsoft Office (in particular of MS Excel) is a requirement and knowledge of Infor M3 are desirable
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, know how to convince and persuade, and always maintain a constructive, trusted relation with your stakeholders
  • Fair understanding of Manufacturing challenges and manufacturing performance leverage
  • Able to demonstrate strong numerical capability with a passion for detailed analysis
  • An inquisitive approach, able to identify risks and opportunities for appropriate follow up
  • English + additional language eventually
  • Excellent track record in managing/leading Supply Planning experts
