SELKO is looking for an experienced HSE Manager to join the team in Indianapolis. The HSE Manager oversees all health and safety activities, guiding teams to adopt safety measures and acting as the HSE point of contact.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Overall HSE Management: You will be responsible for developing, managing, deploying, and improving HSE plans, policies, and standards, the manager aims to minimize risks and enhance HSE performance. Leading by example, the HSE Manager fosters a cultural shift towards a Zero Incident and Zero Waste mindset.

  • Manage HSE functions to sustain a safe, productive work culture.
  • Collaborate with regional Operations teams as a partner and ally.

Leadership and People Management:

  • Build trust and collaboration with HSE teams and OPCO representatives.
  • Model and reinforce safe behavior.
  • Ensure deployment and execution of all HSE training programs.
  • Manage and coach Site HSE Advisors and project teams, providing feedback and taking action as needed.
  • Maintain a network of stakeholders and local Safety Champions for HSE communication and commitment.

HSE Policy, Plans & Standards:

  • Act as the HSE subject matter expert, deploying global initiatives and business strategies.
  • Coordinate OPCO HSE Council and lead Quarterly Management Reviews.
  • Manage the formulation and execution of HSE plans, budgets, and goals.
  • Oversee implementation and development of HSE policies, programs, and standards.

Risk Management, Inspections & Audits:

  • Implement emergency and occupational safety measures and conduct risk evaluations.
  • Monitor HSE performance through inspections and corrective actions.
  • Advise and collaborate with managers to manage HSE risks and ensure compliance through inspections, assessments, and audits.

Training & Advice:

  • Ensure execution of all HSE training and instruction programs.
  • Provide insights and advice on HSE developments through reports and analyses for informed decision-making.

Incidents and Investigations:

  • Oversee incident investigation, reporting, and training.
  • Lead investigations in serious incidents and manage crisis situations.
  • Plan, conduct, and monitor corrective actions from safety inspections and investigations.

Reporting & Analysis:

  • Analyze HSE indicators and recommend actions.
  • Deliver regular HSE performance reports to Regional and Global Management.

Change Management & Projects:

  • Implement changes using Change Management principles.
  • Participate in HSE improvement projects, supporting major projects, mergers, acquisitions, and complex shutdowns.
  • Ensure HSE standards are included in CAPEX projects and design phases.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • At least 4 years of career progression in a similar role with strong environmental and safety experience in manufacturing operations and multi-site HSE management.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Certifications: Chartered Member of IOSH, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Senior Safety Specialist (HVK), or equivalent, and experience as a Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor.
  • Demonstrated passion for fostering a safety culture within an organization.
  • Proven ability to deliver processes effectively to optimize business resources.
